If one more sing-song rapper makes one more song about being famous, I may have to cut my ears off. I expect rappers to boast about the luxuries that come with fame. But when an artist’s catalog contains multiple songs dedicated to explaining just how famous he or she is, and when mind-blowing beats are wasted on suck butt lyrics, I begin to wonder if these people have anything valuable or original to say. Tell me a story like Slick Rick. Make me think like Common. Relate to me like Lauryn Hill. Artists who are famous for being famous may have hit records today, but they will have no legacy when all the fame and money is gone.
