Summary: The Bad Girls Club is centered on seven “bad girls” who have a variety of psychological and behavioral problems. The girls move in to a mansion together for three months and try to work on their anger and social issues. Seasons 1-4 and 6 were set in Los Angeles, while season 5 was in Miami and 6 was in New Orleans. The most recent season, 8, is set in Las Vegas. The girls have specific rules and goals to better themselves, however it’s never that easy.

Tami Talks: [This is] A hot ass mess. The original concept was to take these young girls that were mischievous and put them in a house and by the end they were supposed to learn something about themselves. But now it seems they come in with the idea of whose gonna be crazier than last season’s person. I don’t watch it. I try not to let my kids watch it. But mindless entertainment is taking over the TV waves.

Each bad girl comes from a different background and they all have a unique personality. The one thing they all have in common is that they are BAD! The arguments, pranks, cursing, and physical fighting all prove that these girls are in serious need of anger management.

Why do we love to watch these overdramatic adult women pee in sinks and squirt French dressing into another girls suitcase? Because we love to live vicariously through them. Most of us would never have the nerve to do what these girls do. They stand up for themselves and what they believe in, even if they have to act completely immature to do so. We like to see how a “bad girl” would react in everyday situations.

The Bad Girls Club creed, introduced in season three, is:

A Bad Girl knows what she wants and how to get it. She makes her own way, makes her own rules and she makes no apologies. A Bad Girl blazes her own trail and removes obstacles from her path. A Bad Girl fights and forces her way to the top with style and beauty. A Bad Girl believes in jumping first and looking later. People will love you. People will hate you. Others will secretly wish to be you. A Bad Girl is you.

Impact: The Bad Girls club has left an imprint on reality TV for being one of the first shows since Jerry Springer to promote fighting. The girls get into numerous physical altercations throughout the seasons, even though there are rules against it. The show has no real purpose except to entertain, and many other reality TV shows have followed in its footsteps.

Aftermath: There was a spin-off of The Bad Girls Club. Tanisha Thomas, from season 2, hosted “Love Games: Bad Girls Need Love Too”, where past cast members seek true love. Thomas also hosted Oxygen’s “OxygenLive!” Nine contestants have so far competed in the “Love Games: Bad Girls Need Love Too” series.

Thomas is also starring in Tanisha Gets Married, which is set to air next month.

Oxygen has released a mobile game, comic strip, and merchandise to promote the show.

Trivia: Natalie Nunn, from season 4, dated singer/dancer Chris Brown.

Catya “Cat” Washington, from season 5, dated rapper Drake.
