The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin wants to add another job to her resume. She wants to become a judge.

Aretha Franklin wants to become a judge, but not in a court of law. Franklin wishes to add her judging abilities to singing competition reality shows like The Voice, American Idol, and Duets. While being interviewed by The Chicago Sun Times, Aretha Franklin said, “I would love to be a judge on one of those shows.”

Many contemporary artists like Monica, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Lopez, and even Diddy have been mentors on singing reality competition shows. The Queen of Soul can’t understand why the legends like her and Patti LaBelle haven’t been asked to impart some wisdom to up and coming artists. They have been in the business for as many years as Diddy and Mary J. Blige have been alive.

I don’t understand why singers like myself, Gladys [Knight], Natalie [Cole] and Patti [LaBelle] can’t be judges. We never get a call. I don’t understand it,” says Aretha Franklin. “I watch those shows from time to time. Some of the talent is very good. Some of it is fun. And some of it is really wild.”
