The remake of the classic 1976 film Sparkle is set to hit theaters this Friday, August 17th. While doing promotion for the film, Jordin Sparks talked about how the plot lines in the film mirror the life of star and executive producer Whitney Houston.
Though Houston didn’t start her career as part of a girl group, she also had music in her spirit. Jordin said the movie and Whitney Houston’s life were paralleled because of the struggles Sparkle and Houston faced while on their journey to stardom. Sparks’ co-star Carmen Ejogo says Sparkle teaches the audience to never dim their light and Whitney was all about that message.
