The African-American Film Critics Association (AAFCA)  has chosen Kathryn Bigelow’s Osama Bin Laden assassination film, “Zero Dark Thirty” as their best film of 2012.

Bigelow won an Oscar in 2009 for her film “The Hurt Locker” and early reviews have her latest film headed for a Best Picture nomination in 2013.

Other notable AAFCA selections include Ben Affleck as Best Director for “Argo,” Denzel Washington as Best Actor for “Flight” and newcomer Emayatzy Corinealdi as Best Actress for “Middle Of Nowhere.”

“The selections made this year reflect the refreshing abundance of both studio and independent work  that provided a stellar array of roles for both veteran actors and new faces in front of and behind the  camera,” says Gil Robertson IV, AAFCA, President and Founder.
