I’m all for comical online videos like this but the Internet fame of mentally challenged rapper Eli Porter, soon-to-be chronicled in a documentary, and 50 Tyson give me pause. The Web gives us unfiltered opportunities to laugh at others but this time, it just isn’t funny.

Remember when you met your first disabled classmate at school? Whether it was the kid without the motion of his or her limbs or a severe speech impediment, you just knew that it was wrong to laugh at their shortcomings. But then someone made a joke about them and you giggled even though you got a queasy mix of disgust and the need for acceptance in return. Now multiply that feeling by two million views on YouTube and you get my reaction to Eli Porter and 50 Tyson.

I’ll admit, I laughed at first. When Eli stops rhyming in the first rap battle video (above) you actually think something’s coming after his initial verse and when you realize it’s a wrap, that’s comical… but then the clip keeps going. You suddenly realize his schoolmates are just filming this dude because he’s mentally delayed…

SO WHAT’S WRONG WITH THAT? READ MORE OF HILLARY CROSLEY’S POST AT THEBVX.com
