In his first game since filing for divorce from Eva Longoria, San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker scored 21 points and dished out seven assists to defeat the Chicago Bulls. So far this season the Frenchman is averaging 18.6 points and dishing out 7.6 assists per game- the highest assist average of his career.

During an injury riddled 2009-2010 Parker missed over 20 games and only averaged 16 points and 5.7 assists when he did play. Also noteworthy is that he hasn’t taken any three-point shots this season yet– at all. This is a good thing because he’s only a 31.% career three-point shooter and it’s best that he just focus on taking it to the hole, even if it is no longer Eva’s.

“It was a weird game,” Parker said of the win. “I had a rough start.” But for his team it hasn’t been a rough start at all. The Spurs are now 9 and 1 tying a franchise-best start.  They could break the record on Friday night against the Utah Jazz, but Paul Milsap and Deron Williams might have something to say about that.

In any regard, if Parker continues to put up these kinds of numbers The Spurs may be more than just an after thought in the Western Conference where most fans have ceded the crown to the defending Champion Los Angeles Lakers. At the very least those of us who drafted him late in our fantasy leagues this year are seeing great returns. No one wants to see a marriage end but if it means he’s going to play like this I will quote one of the greatest romantics of our era**, Rihanna:

“F- Love.”

Take it to the hole Tony.

**once again, we’re being sarcastic.
