A video of a man walking through Times Square hacking the giant screens in the area surfaced on the internet recently.  The man records a video of himself on an iPhone that has a transmitter plugged into the headphone jack.  Whenever the man holds up a receiver in front of a television screen, the video from his phone appears on the screen.

While this idea sounds pretty cool, this whole thing reeks of “Viral Video Created To Promote Something,” but we haven’t figured out what’s being promoted… yet.  So we’ll play along for now.

(UPDATE: Guyism.com reports that it’s a video promoting the film Limitless.)

Many tech savvy folks on various forums have already pointed out that this video is likely fake because the iPhone’s video signal doesn’t travel through the iPhone’s headphone jack

And with the recent botched terrorist attack on Times Square, we’re pretty sure the authorities would be all over a non-white man holding a giant balloon in front of one of the larger screens in Times Square.
