Jada Pinkett Smith, acting on behalf of PETA, has found herself involved in a war of words with Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, they mayor of her hometown of Baltimore. Pinkett Smith reached out to Mayor Rawlings-Blake to protect the elephants a part of the Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey Circus by upholding the city’s ban on the use of bullhooks the next time circus arrives. In her letter, Jada wrote, “Unlike me and other actors, elephants do not choose to perform. These endangered elephants will soon be in your jurisdiction.”

Mayor Rawlings-Blakes’ heart was apparently already booked up and she didn’t bother offering a response. She did tell a local news station, though, “We’ve reached out about homelessness, about school issues. I would have loved to gotten some feedback, support or concern about those issues that are very pressing to the city.”

Not so nice, most certainly nasty response. Team Smith responded quickly with The Will and Jada Smith Foundation firing off another letter which included the line, “Your response to her letter was disturbing, irresponsible, inflammatory and inaccurate.” Can’t they break crab cakes and settle this for the good of Dumbo and Babar?
