Superproducer Timbaland has released some footage of him reminiscing about how he, Aaliayah, and Static Major came up with the hit single “Are You That Somebody?”
The Virginia native provided the beat and a guest verse to the monster single of 1998. “Are You That Somebody?” appeared as the lead single for the Dr. Doolittle soundtrack. It ended up being nominated for a Grammy in 1999. The song was a top five pop hit and a number one R&B smash. Rolling Stone Magazine called “Are You That Somebody?” one of the 90s most astounding moments.
