We can add another highly popular and formally wealthy athlete to the ever-expanding list of sport stars gone broke. Warren Sapp has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in Florida, claiming he owes $6.7 million to various creditors. The future NFL hall-of-famer says he’s even lost his 2002 Super Bowl ring.
Among his debts, Sapp says he owes more than a million in back taxes to the IRS. He says he even owes $2,858 in medical bills for “Corrective Speech and Language Therapy.” However, the worse debt is owed to his four baby mamas, who are all due thousands in back child support payments.
Sapp says he only has $6.45 million to his name, which would leave him good and destitute after he paid everyone off. Funny enough, among the assets listed, he included 240 pairs of Jordan sneakers and sandals. Maybe you can put that on eBay to pay for some pampers and Happy Meals?
