The Miami Heat and Boston Celtics can truly claim the biggest rival in today’s NBA and maybe professional sports. The two teams opened the NBA season on the Heat’s home court and the defending champs walked away with a 120 to 107 victory. But that didn’t stop the Celtics from sending some messages of their own.

Before the game even got started Heat guard Ray Allen was snubbed by former teammate Kevin Garnett when he attempted to shake his hand.  Afterward, Allen claimed that KG simply didn’t see him because his head was down.  KG shrugged it off to The Boston Globe stating, “You know what, man, I was just trying to stay as neutral as I could but obviously I’m an intense person.”

Towards the end of the game, Rajon Rondo committed a flagrant foul on Dwyane Wade as he was heading to the basket and Flash didn’t like it one bit.

Wade called the move a “punk play” and almost threw the basketball at the Celtics point guard, but thought better of it.

“I got my kids watching so I stopped myself but it was a punk play by him,” said Wade, who had a team-best 29 points in the win. “He clotheslined me. I’m here to play basketball, man. If you want to do something else, then go do something else. Boxing, this is not it. I was glad I was able to stop myself in that very moment and move on from it. We’ll see next time we play.”

The Heat and Celtics meet up again on January 27, 2013 in Boston. Get your popcorn ready for Ray Allen’s first game at the TD Garden since taking his talents to South Beach.

In other NBA news, the new-look Lakers fell to the revamped Dallas Mavericks 99 to 91. Superman notched 19 points and 10 rebounds in his Lakers debut, but it wasn’t enough for the Mavs more balanced attack.
