You may think you know Rick Gonzales–the actor known for parts in “Coach Carter” and “Old School”– but you certainly have no idea about his rap alter ego Realm Reality. Realm Reality just signed a deal with Mobb Deep‘s Prodigy to become the first artist on Infamous Records.

Gonzales says he has been rapping since 1998 and can work in both arenas of entertainment with ease because he knows how hard it is to make it in one sector of the entertainment industry.

Prodigy’s newest protegee said, “My passion for Hip Hop, I’m from Bushwick, Brooklyn. It’s the pulse of my neighborhood. It was always there, and I’m proud to say that my passion for acting was there as well. I’m blessed to have that career. I understand how difficult it is to make it as an actor and to do music is no different.”

Prodigy is confident in his signing of Realm Reality because he found success in Hollywood and did it on his own. Prodigy said, “The fact that Realm was also in Hollywood doing his thing with movies and all of that, it only helps. A lot of people know his face. It’s two different business, it’s two different worlds, but at the same time, he’s a product. I’m a product. We out here selling what we do to the world.”

Realm Reality is dropping a mixtape called “In Grind We Trust” which boasts features by Joell Ortiz and Skyzoo, among others.
