R Kelly Fans Petition White House To Change National Anthem

When one thinks of what image best says the United States Of America, lots of ideas are conjured up in the mind. It could be a game of baseball, an apple pie, a waving flag, bald eagles, maybe even the White House. But to a select grouping of the population, nothing says the good old US of A like R. Kelly’s Ignition Remix and they are petitioning the Obama White House for some of that change the President promised them!

Pick your jaw up boo, this is no joke! They mean it, and according to The Huffington Post, so far the petition has more than two-thousand signatures! (At last check it was up to 4,671 signatures!)

People get your relatives! Who in their right mind would think this was a good idea? Key words there being “right” and “mind.” We understand that sometimes you have to stan for an artist to feel close to them. We get it, truly. But the National Anthem? They are expecting folks to have their big mama standing up, with hands over her heart, singing the words to “Ignition”? Really? If this is a joke, there are a lot of people who seem to think it’s a good idea, and even one is probably too many! Somebody please get Dave Chappelle on the phone, because these jokes truly write themselves!

WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO: change the national anthem to R. Kelly’s 2003 hit “Ignition (Remix).”We, the undersigned, would like the Obama administration to recognize the need for a new national anthem, one that even a decade after its creation, is still hot and fresh out the kitchen. America has changed since Francis Scott Key penned our current anthem in 1814. Since then, we have realized that after the show, it’s the afterparty, and that after the party, it’s the hotel lobby, and–perhaps most importantly–that ’round about four, you’ve got to clear the lobby, at which point it’s strongly recommended that you take it to the room and freak somebody. President Obama: we ask you to recognize the evolution of this beautiful country and give us an anthem that better suits the glorious nation we have become.
