As we previously reported, Malcolm Shabazz, the 28-year-old grandson and  first male heir of Malcolm X, was beaten to death in Mexico City eight days ago.

Shabazz had found his own calling as an activist and had been traveling the world speaking to various groups. He was young but had wisdom on many topics that stretched well beyond his years.

Reportedly there have been two suspects arrested in his murder.

According to Colorlines.com a traditional Islamic funeral service was  held  today for Malcolm Shabazz in Oakland, California at the Islamic Cultural Center of Northern California. There will also be a private burial on Tuesday,  in Hartsdale, New York, where  both Malcolm X and Betty Shabazz are buried.

Another memorial service is currently being planned to take place in New York City.
