Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell were dropping some knowledge on their hit song “Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing.” Hit producer Mannie Fresh wholeheartedly agrees with the two Motown legends when it comes to Cash Money’s re-imagining of the Big Tymers with Drake and Lil Wayne filling the shoes of Birdman and Mannie Fresh.

The former in-house producer for Cash Money voiced his confusion over the Big Tymers reboot to MTV News. When asked about Birdman’s decision to have Drake and Lil Wayne take over as Big Tymers, Mannie Fresh compared the situation to having Boyz II Men recording a new Jackson 5 album.

“It’s kinda like doing a Jackson 5 album with Boyz II Men. Two different eras, great artists, but Boyz II Men is not the Jackson 5. I don’t bash Cash Money, Birdman, or none of them. It’s really on, I’m just striving on just getting what I deserve, you know, what I put in. Honestly I think Drake is a great artist, I think Wayne is a great artist, but they not the Big Tymers.”

I have to agree with Mannie Fresh. Although I wouldn’t go as far as to compare Big Tymers with The Jackson 5, drake and Lil Wayne won’t make a good version of Big Tymers because they aren’t as funny or ratchet as Mannie Fresh and Birdman. You know you wouldn’t like “Still Fly” if Drake was rhyming about not being able to afford putting gas in his new Escalade because he spent all of his money getting fly. Hell, you don’t even believe Drake when he says he started from the bottom so why would a Big Tymers reincarnation be accepted?
