While speaking on a FoxNews.com live panel about George Zimmerman’s trial for the second-degree murder of Trayon Martin, Former NYPD Detective, Harry Houck, shocked the world by making a defamatory statement about the deceased teenager.
According to Mediaite.com, upon co-panelist Tamara Holder (a criminal defense attorney) speaking on the probability of the State Of Florida’s Prosecution reminding the jury that Trayvon was only carrying a bag of candy and iced tea at the time of his death, Houck chimed in.
Remarked Houck,
“She was talking about the Skittles that he had, and the Coca-Cola that Trayvon Martin had. That doesn’t look good for the defense because he’s injecting something into their minds, like, this is a little kid with candy walking around the street. Listen, Trayvon Martin would be alive today if he didn’t have a street attitude. That’s the bottom line.”
Holder jumped in almost as soon as Houck got the words out of his mouth and said,
“‘street attitude’ is a very broad thing and is something that actually can be used as a — and I’m not saying this to you, personally, but something that can be used as something racist, like calling a kid a thug.”
Not taking the clue, Houck inserted his other foot into his mouth and said,
“I think people who use the word ‘thug’ or believe that the word ‘thug’ is a racist [word] is racist themselves. You know, because I call somebody a thug, I’m a racist? No. I don’t think so. I mean, that’s crazy.”
Take a look at the conversation below!
We are sad to say that it seems this nonsense is going to continue until a verdict is handed in at the end of this trial. It’s horrific what is happening, and we have a terrible feeling in the pit of our stomachs that this is only the beginning of what will likely be a summer full of ignorance and more of the same.
