Actor Omari Hardwick is batting 1,000 on his leading women. From Carmen Ojego in “Sparkle” to Janet Jackson in “For Colored Girls,” the actor and poet has been fortunate enough to be paired with some of the most beautiful leading ladies (and singers) Hollywood has to offer.
Tonight he continues that streak in the premiere of the BET series “Being Mary Jane” when he gets to play house with the gorgeous Gabrielle Union. When your job is to get half naked and go toe-to-toe (or head-to-toe or …never mind) with beautiful women while the cameras are rolling, how do you keep your cool?
“You kind of just focus,” Hardwick told TheUrbanDaily.com after we got to screen the steamy opening love scene between he and Gab Union in “Being Mary Jane.” “You’ve run off a list of actresses I’ve been blessed to work with, but I’ve done this now for a little bit. If you had asked me maybe six years ago I’dda been like, ‘I know!’ I’ve had some really strong, beautiful, interesting women in my life. That comes with [experiencing their] dysfunction and insecurity and moments of needing to be held and hugged. After a while you’re able to see those things and that way you don’t see them as ‘big’ as other people see them and you see them as people first.”
Well fellas, you heard the man. Watch the trailer to “Being Mary Jane” below and see if you can handle Gabrielle Union the way Omari did.
