Things have gone from bad to worse with ex-NFL player Aaron Hernandez. After being arrested and charged with first degree murder, a witness is now claiming that Hernandez confessed to the shooting death of Odin Lloyd. However, something is a little sketchy about the new claim.

Carlos Ortiz and Ernest Wallace are believed by prosecutors to have been with Aaron Hernandez on the night of Lloyd’s murder. Both of them have been arrested in connection to the crime. Now that they’re all behind bars, one of them is telling on everybody. According to the Mirmar Police, Ortiz told them that Aaron Hernandez confessed to killing Odin Lloyd.

Here’s the thing, Ortiz says he heard that vital piece of information from Ernest Wallace. If you are up on your judiciary rules, you’d know that hearsay can easily be thrown out of court. However, double hearsay shouldn’t even warrant a meeting in a judge’s chambers. This case is the exception because police brought Ortiz’s statement to a judge in an attempt to secure a search warrant connected to the investigation.

The finger pointing and blame game is normal when there is more than one defendant in a case. While Ortiz maintains Wallace told him that Hernandez told him that he killed Odin Lloyd, Aaron Hernandez still is proclaiming his innocence.
