According to NBC, the answer to “What is ‘Chicago PD?’” is “a gripping, character-driven new police drama about those who put it all on the line to serve and protect.” The show stars Jason Beghe as Sgt. Hank Voight, the leader of the Intelligence Unit. Voight is willing to bend the rules to catch the bad guys, and he’s notoriously tough on his officers—among them detective Antonio Dawson, played by Jon Seda. Dawson and Voight butt heads often, but the detective wants to one day run the department, so he’s not going to back down.

What is “Chicago PD?” One of several new 2013 TV shows shooting in Chicago this year—“Mind Games,” “Crisis,” “Betrayal” and of course, “Chicago Fire,” are the others—the NBC drama also stars Kelly Blatz, Scott Eastwood, Tania Raymonde and J.B. Smoove. Although fans have not yet had the chance to answer the question “What is ‘Chicago PD?’” for themselves, as it’s not aired yet, NBC has already picked up the series, so it must figure it’s got a winner on its hands for the 2013 TV season. Time will tell.
