What is “Believe?” “Believe” is a new NBC TV show produced by J.J. Abrams and set to premiere in 2014. The series stars Johnny Sequoyah as Bo, a young girl with special powers ranging from levitation and telekinesis to predicting the future. Bo was raised by the “True Believers,” a special group intent on protecting the young orphan from those who would abuse her powers and use them for personal gain, but as Bo gets older, her supernatural abilities get stronger, and the True Believers can no longer handle the job. They turn to Tate (Jake McLaughlin), a wrongfully accused death-row inmate they spring from jail, initiating the series of adventures NBC hopes will keep viewers coming back to “Believe.”

Still, “Believe” has some clout, since J.J. Abrams has garnered such goodwill through such shows as “Lost,” and critic Laura Prudom thinks “Believe” could be a bright spot on NBC’s 2014 TV schedule.
