With all of the amazingly beautiful black models out there in this world, it baffles us as to why Dunkin’ Donuts would use black face to create a black model in their donut ad in Asia but they did. The ad promoting the “charcoal doughnut,” showed the black face model wearing bright pink lipstick and holding a partially eaten donut.  Dunkin’ Donuts is now feeling the fall out from their actions according to Hip Hop Wired.

Phil Robertson, deputy director of the Asia division of Human Rights Watch, said,

“It’s rather incredible that an international company like Dunkin’ Donuts would run such an ad. The ad fits into a long history of racist advertisements in Southeast Asia.”

Said Dunkin’ Donuts Thailand CEO Nadim Salhani’s,

“It’s absolutely ridiculous. We’re not allowed to use black to promote our doughnuts? I don’t get it. What’s the big fuss? What if the product was white and I painted someone white, would that be racist?”

Why yes idiot it would be! Clearly Salhani doesn’t understand what racist means if that is the statement that was given!

Karen Raskopf, chief communications officer for Dunkin’ Brands, issued a statement and said,

“The company has pulled the ad from public view. Dunkin’ Donuts recognizes the insensitivity of this spot. On behalf of our Thailand franchisee and our company, we apologize for any offense it caused.”

We are positive this is not the end of this story! Not by a long shot!
