The protégé has always been a privileged position Hip-Hop. With one word, an artist at the top of his game can place all eyes on an artist and declare him next in line to the carry on a tradition of fame, fortune and artistic excellence. Sweet work if you can get it, right?

Unfortunately, when it comes to the rap world, most protégés have had big issues living up to expectations. Whether it’s folding to the pressure, a lack of talent, a lack of patience or a lack of follow through from the big homie, very few legacy’s ever see the highest highs promised by the protégé title.

We here at TUD decided to take a gander at a few Big Homie/protégés on the scene and grade a group who had the most to gain based on who really captured the brass ring and who basically went bust.
