According to The New York Post, the 46-year-old actor who won the 2005 Oscar for his appearance in “Capote‘  Philip Seymour Hoffman, was found dead of an apparent drug overdose inside a Greenwich Village home on Sunday.

Hoffman’s body was found by a friend at 11:30 a.m. Sunday morning in an apartment on Bethune St say Post sources.

Police are at the scene and said to be investigating.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine exact cause of death.

Philip Seymour Hoffman was also known for stellar performances in; Almost Famous, Twister, Boogie Nights, Charlie Wilson’s War. Mission Impossible III, Magnolia, When A Man Loves A Woman, Punch Drunk Love, Patch Adams, Along Came Polly, Doubt, Money Ball, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay: Parts 1,2 and the list goes on and on.

The Rochester, New York native and  father or 3 was in several Broadway productions as well and was nominated for Tony awards as a result.
