Tomorrow would have been the 19th birthday of Florida teen Jordan Davis. Today the man who took his life was given a mistrial on first-degree murder charges after a jury could not come to an agreement and reported themselves hung.

According to NBC  in the case of the first-degree murder of 17-Year-Old Jordan Davis the jury was hung. They could not agree on the murder charge. However, oddly enough, they found the defendant Michael Dunn guilty of attempted murder for shooting into the SUV that contained Jordan Davis and his three friends.

It is puzzling everyone right now how Dunn could possibly be guilty of the attempted murder of three of the children in the car that lived but that they could not convict him on the count of murder in the first degree for the child that actually died.

Take a look at the breakdown of the story, in case you missed it, via the videos below.

If he isn’t forced to answer for the death of Jordan Davis, it doesn’t matter that Dunn was convicted on the attempted murder charges, even though he  will likely spend the rest of his life in jail. After hearing what his parents had to say about it tonight … how can anyone not want to see their son’s murderer brought to justice. They will never see their child again and the man who is responsible must be held accountable.

If the Florida State’s Attorney Angela Corey keeps her word then this case will be tried again. Hopefully the jury gets it right this time. Because right now people are once again questioning what the price of a Black life in America is. And this nation is a veritable powder keg as a result of that question having to be asked yet again.

Our thoughts go out to the Davis Family, friends and loved ones tonight.
