Where is Fabolous from? Fabolous is from Brooklyn, New York, where he was born John David Jackson on November 18, 1977. Specifically, the rapper hails from the Brevoort Houses housing projects in his borough’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood, and it was there he began rapping as a high school student. His big break came in 1998, when mixtape maven DJ Clue invited the aspiring rhymer to appear on his Hot 97 radio show. The host was impress — “I let so many hot rappers skip me by, I wasn’t gonna let that happen again,” Clue told MTV — and just like that, the young NYC MC was on his way.

Fabolous hails from Brooklyn, and like fellow BK natives Biggie Smalls and Jay Z, he’s made quite a name in the hip-hop game. Fab has dropped five studio albums, the first of which, 2001’s “Ghetto Fabolous,” spawned the hit singles “Can’t Deny It” and “Young’n (Holla Back).” His most recent LP, 2009’s “Loso’s Way,” topped the Billboard 200, so it’s no surprise Fab’s forthcoming sixth full-length, due out in 2014, is titled “Loso’s Way 2: Rise to Power.” The NYC rapper has certainly risen to power, and all five of his albums have made the top 10. Over the years, Fabolous has collaborated with such artists as Nate Dogg, Keri Hilson, 2 Chainz, Ne-Yo, and T-Pain, and according to his AllMusic biography, he was “one of the first East Coast MCs to embrace the bling mentality of the South as well as the gangsta swagger of the West Coast, all the while incorporating a subtle undercurrent of pop-rap into his music.”

Although Fabolous is from Brooklyn, he’s transcended his hometown roots and gone global, and the superstar is now signed to Diddy’s Chiroc management label. Despite his fame, Fab still gets in trouble every now and then, and in October 2006, he was shot in the leg after leaving a Manhattan restaurant. More recently, he was at a party in North Carolina where two people were shot, AllHipHop.com reports. Fabolous is also known for his cameos on reality TV, as he’s in a longterm relationship with “Love & Hip Hop” star Emily Bustamante, a woman he evidently has no plans to marry.
