Has Joe Budden ever been arrested? Indeed, Joe Budden has been arrested on at least two occasions, and in March 2012, he was picked up by the New York City police hours before he was due to appear onstage with the group Slaughterhouse. The reason for Budden’s arrest? The rapper had an unpaid $75 traffic ticket, TMZ reports, and even though it wasn’t a huge amount of money, officers hauled the rapper in for booking and the whole bit. Budden wasn’t able to perform with his group mates in Manhattan that evening, and that means fans didn’t get to hear “Pump It Up,” his smash hit from 2003.

Budden’s 2012 arrest followed one in 2009, SOHH.com reports, and the earlier incident wasn’t due to a traffic ticket. The Harlem-born, Jersey City-raised rhymer was reportedly arrested for failure to pay child support, a charge that again got him in trouble in October 2010, when police issued a warrant for his arrest. Budden’s legal woes have done little to overshadow his career, though, and he’s still best known for his Slaughterhouse work, three solo albums — “Joe Budden” (2003), “Padded Room” (2009), and “No Love Lost” (2013) — and stint on the Vh1 reality series “Love & Hip Hop.”

It could be that because Budden’s arrests haven’t been for bar brawls or acts of violence or any of the other hip-hop-related crimes that tend to make headlines, he’s been able to emerge from his legal troubles relatively unscathed. Although he’s no longer on a major label, “No Love Lost” fared well on the charts, reaching No. 15 on the Billboard 200, and in 2014, he plans on issuing a follow-up, “All Love Lost.” Following the incident in March 2012, there’s likely no love lost between Budden and the NYPD, even though he “handled the matter,” as TMZ reports, before having to stay behind bars very long.
