Has Meek Mill ever been arrested? Yes, Meek Mill has been arrested at least twice, and the first time — a 2008 gun bust — derailed his career in a big way. Born Robert Williams on May 6, 1987, in Philadelphia, Meek Mill grew up battle-rapping with friends on street corners, and as a teenager, he formed the group the BloodHoundz. He also got into some trouble in, and in 2008, at the age of 21, he was convicted on gun charges and handed down a stiff sentence. He wound up serving eight months, during which time the rising star realized he needed to make some changes in his life.

“I’m just a natural hustler,” Meek Mill said in an interview with HipHopDX.”When I got signed, I had $250,000 — I was like 21. I was just a natural born hustler. Before I went to jail, I used to be a slouch. I used to smoke weed; things like that. Get high, hang on corners, play with guns — do a lot of dumb stuff. It took me to sit down in jail one time and use my brain and think. That’s the best thing jail did for me.”

Meek Mill went on to sign with Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group, and in 2012, after a string of popular mixtapes, he dropped his studio debut, “Dreams and Nightmares.” It was an appropriate title given all he’d been through, though he hasn’t exactly avoided the law since. On October 31, 2012, Mill was arrested in Philadelphia after he refused to let officers search his car during a traffic stop. Mill later sued the Philadelphia Police Department, claiming that the arresting officers took pictures of the famous MC and posted them on social media. He further alleged that the “unlawful” bust cost him $22,000, since he’d scheduled a private jet to take him to Atlanta, and the arrest caused him to miss his flight.

Following that Halloween 2012 arrest, Meek Mill was convicted for failure to renew his vehicle’s registration, NBC reports.
