This year is a big one for Nas. His debut album, “Illmatic,” turned 20 this year, and the new documentary about the album’s process, “Time is Illmatic premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival last night.

It’s the first film for director Eric Parker and One9, and they dug into the archives to gather old interviews and photos with Nas and his family.

Nas showed his appreciation to the directors for the film saying, “You did a great job showing me where I came from.” The rapper performed songs from “Illmatic” after the screening.

Fab 5 Freddy, Michael K. Williams, Pete Rock, Michael Rapaport were among the celebrities who attended the premiere.
