Whitney Houston’s mother, Cissy Houston, has finally broken her silence about Lifetime’s upcoming Whitney Houston biopic and she isn’t pleased.

The matriarch of the Houston family spoke to Entertainment Tonight and called into question the motives of anybody connected to the film. Houston wondered why people would choose to do a biopic about her daughter when none of them actually had a close relationship to her despite claims of the contrary. Cissy Houston believes the Angela Bassetdirected film will do nothing more than spread more lies about Whitney Houston and her former husband Bobby Brown.

Lifetime has chosen to go ahead with the movie about Whitney in spite of my family’s objections. No one connected with this movie knew Whitney or anything about her relationship with Bobby.

In the two years since Whitney’s death, many people have stepped forward to speak about their close relationship with her. I find it difficult to believe people who knew and supposedly loved her would participate in a movie about her done by folks who didn’t know her. We are exhausted by the continuing misinformation and comments offered by people who did not know her. Please please let her rest.

Most fans of the late pop legend agree with the Houston family. However, there are people who feel Cissy Houston doesn’t have a leg to stand on after the Houstons did the Lifetime reality series “The Houstons: On Our Own”  only a few months after the pop star’s death in 2012.

What do you think? Is Cissy Houston against the biopic because the Houstons aren’t getting a check from the film or because they really just want Whitney Houston to rest in peace?
