The United Way Of Greater St. Louis

  • The United Way Of Greater St. Louis has provided a web form for potential volunteers and for those seeking information on how they can help citizens on the ground recovering from the clashes.

St. Louis Area Foodbank

  • The St. Louis Area Foodbank has launched the “Feed the Students of Ferguson” campaign. The group is asking for donations.

#OperationHelpOrHush

  • Through the combined efforts of Twitter users @akacharleswade, @bellebutters, and @SheSeauxSaditty, the #OperationHelpOrHush movement sprang forth in response to the events in Ferguson. The group’s three-part strategy is to assist organizers, support protesters, and provide resources for Ferguson residents.

NAACP

  • The NAACP’s national office has launched a page that has focused on the ground efforts of organizers in Ferguson. The group has provided some tools for those who wish to support its efforts. Supporters can also send notes of condolences to the Brown family.

Dream Defenders

  • Dream Defenders has been instrumental in various social justice causes and has been organizing national #HandsUp events dedicated to raising awareness about police injustice. With the deaths of Brown, John Crawford in Dayton, Ohio; Eric Garner in New York; and Ezell Ford in Los Angeles — which have all occurred in the past month — the group is presenting six national demands regarding the conduct of police.

ACLU

  • The American Civil Liberties Union has issued a nationwide petition to the U.S. Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, and Justice regarding police presence and response to issues in communities of color.

Michael Brown Memorial Fund

  • A GoFundMe account was set up by family attorney Benjamin Crump to assist with funeral costs and legal fees. So far, nearly $250,000 has been raised, far surpassing the campaign’s goal of $200,000.

Missourians Organizing for Reform and Empowerment’s (MORE) Legal Defense Fund for Justice for Mike Brown

  • The MORE organization, based in St. Louis, is asking for donations for a legal defense fund for Mike Brown.
