Adult Swim is teaming up with former heavyweight boxing champ Mike Tyson to celebrate and mock the Hanna-Barbera-style mystery cartoon in “Mike Tyson Mysteries,” and Iron Mike couldn’t be more excited about it.

The show follows Mike, in a blue question mark tracksuit, as he answers cries for help with his mystery crew, including the Ghost of the Marquess of QueensberryYung Hee, Tyson’s adopted Korean daughter, and an alcoholic foul-mouthed pigeon named…Pigeon.

I got the chance to sit down with Tyson for a roundtable interview during New York Comic Con last weekend, and he seems beyond excited about being involved with Adult Swim:

Just the fact that Adult Swim has been synonymous with the high guy cartoons and stuff. You know there are a bunch of guys hanging out with a doobie and the people on the show are cursing and acting crazy. It was like ‘South Park’ back in the day and now there’s ‘Black Dynamite’ and Afro Samurai and stuff like that. All these really great cartoons that are pretty radical, and I like that kind of radical attitude on television. Superman’s not going to show up and tell you to ‘listen to your mommy and daddy and eat your spinach’ or anything like that.

He also mentioned some of his favorite cartoons:

Hannah Barbara stuff, but also Marvel cartoons. Spider-Man, The X-Men, Apocalypse and all these guys. Woody Woodpecker, Tom and Jerry, Popeye of course, what with Bluto and Alice and Olive Oil…Cartoons aren’t really for kids, they can’t decipher that really. It’s more for adults, I’ve thought. You never really get most of the hour of a cartoon until you become an adult…Cartoons like ‘The Flintstones’ were all about guys coming home from work and drinking (laughs). Definitely weren’t for kids.

Check out the extended trailer below and be sure to tune in for the premiere of “Mike Tyson Mysteries” next Monday, October 27 at 10:30 p.m.
