“Did ya miss me?!” – Varnell Hill

That’s right, the original home of Mona Scott-Young‘s hit reality series has returned. Love & Hip-Hop: New York has returned for a fifth season. We’ve got a good amount of the same characters back again, with a few new faces as well. The first installment recapped the ending to last, and pretty much picked right up. After serving a year plus for drug trafficking charges, Mendeecees and Yandy were finally reunited. Still and engaged couple, they spent a majority of the episode making up for lost time, which included seeing his son Mendeecees Jr. After throwing a welcome home party, the couple make a surprise trip to Vegas to make things official.

And from one married couple to another, we jump to Amina and Peter Gunz. Last year was a merry-go-round type of relationship that involved the two of them and Tara, Peter’s ex-girlfriend. This season looks to be much of the same, as the parents-to-be are seen at the doctor’s office awaiting to find out the sex of their child. After being told they’ll be having a girl, Amina voices her opinion on having all of Peter’s children meet each other. This, of course, sets up a meeting between the Bronx rapper and his old flame. Naturally, the Uptown representative attempted to spark something up, but didn’t seem to get anywhere…this time.

We were also introduced to two new couples, in model manager Chrissy and producer Chink Santana, and Diamond Strawberry and music producer Cisco Rosado. These fill-in situations will definitely be the stretches-for-entertainment portions of the show. Diamond is an “inspiring model” as she put it, and has decided to drop everything in L.A. to move to N.Y. in pursuits of her career and to be closer to her boyfriend. Cisco didn’t really seem to into the idea, but it doesn’t look like that’s gonna stop the move. The whole thing seemed a bit odd, as Daryl Strawberry’s daughter isn’t just leaving her L.A. life behind, but she’s also leaving her young daughter. And similarly, Chrissy’s situation involves a boyfriend that’s currently married. Soooo, yeah. This is definitely going to be the reaches of the show.

But everyone’s favorite girl couple is back for another run, as Cyn Santana and Erica Mena let it be known that their relationship is back in a good place…sort of. Apparently, Cyn had a bit of an issue with Erica kissing Bow Wow on an episode of 106 & Park, while they were still together. But that wasn’t the only issue, as Mena had a bit of a run-in with Chrissy, who claims the reality star used to work for her as an escort, once upon a time. Of course Rich Dollaz somehow, someway, was right in the middle of the fued.
