As a kid, the kicks we wanted were always available to purchase at our leisure. Nowadays, you’ve gotta get a ticket, wait on a line, RSVP through social media, just to pay an arm and a leg, just get the kicks you want. As a sneakerhead, there aren’t many things more frustrating than jumping through hoops to get a pair of amazing sneaks.
That said, if you’ve been struggling to figure out what to get the sneakerhead in your life for Christmas, here are three legendary pairs of sneakers we’d love to find under our tree on December 25, 2014.
Galaxy Foamposites
These bad boys caused a major stir when they arrived in stores. At a price tag that exceeded $200 with a limited supply available, it was bound to cause some interesting reactions by eager sneaker-goers. Select retailers released tickets at midnight to impatient patrons. Just take a look at this North Carolina launch.
Aside from all this interesting information surrounding this unique NIKE basketball shoe, was the resale value. These limited edition foamposites were being sold online for as much as $10,000. While this was an alleged one-time-only release, it’s almost certain that the Swoosh will drop them again at a later date.
Air Yeezy 2
“Ahhh, Yeezy Yeezy how you doin’ huh…”
Quite possibly the biggest non-athlete release in the history of sneakers. The Air Yeezy 2’s sold like wildfire, and set new standards for non-athletes releasing their own line of footwear. Fans of this particular Nike line camped out two weeks in advance of the release, only to have the shoe pushed back to a later date. The hype and build-up for this sneaker prompted Nike to take extreme precaution during its launch. And much like the Galaxy foams, this shoe was also going for an extreme amount of money in resale value.
Nike Air Mag “Back To The Future”
Ever since they made their debut in the iconic hover board chase scene in ‘Back To the Future, the “Marty McFly’s” have been the stuff of legend. Produced in extremely small quanities, these are some of the rarest and subsequently, the most expensive sneakers on Earth. If you’re interested in purchasing, popular sneaker store “Flight Club” has them on sale for a light $9,000.
