For Nasir “Nas” Jones, 2014 has been a very productive year in cinema. He celebrated the 20th anniversary of his groundbreaking debut album Illmatic with the Tribeca-sponsored documentary, Nas: Time Is Illmatic earlier this fall, and it looks like he has one more cinematic trick up his sleeve before year’s end.

Jones is partnering with General Electric to release the documentary Shake The Dust on Vevo, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire, XBOX TV, and Samsung-connected devices on Christmas Eve. The documentary, directed by journalist Adam Sjoberg and executive produced by Jones, focuses on the art of break dancing as it’s seen and practiced around the world.

Jones has nothing but praise for the vision that has come to Shake The Dust

“What these kids are doing around the world reminds me why I fell in love with hip-hop and how important it is as a creative and constructive outlet. After hearing Adam’s vision for this project and hearing the stories, I was incredibly excited to help bring the film to global audiences who need to hear this surprising message of empowerment.”

Jones will also be contributing original music to the soundtrack. Shake The Dust won’t see general release in theaters until 2015, but Nas and GE want to give you an early Christmas present this year.
