7th Annual Hard Sumer Music Festival - Day 1

Just days after news broke that A$AP Mob founder A$AP Yams passed away this weekend, one of the collective’s most commercially successful rappers A$AP Ferg opened up in his first interview since the group’s loss.

During a show in Silver Spring, Md., Ferg took to the stage and asked the audience for a moment of silence to honor Yams.

Speaking with HotNewHipHop after the show, Ferg spoke about Yams’ passing and paid tribute to the fallen A$AP founder.

“We had a tragedy that happened today, earlier this morning,” he said. “The co-founder of A$AP Worldwide, Yams, my brother, he passed away this morning. We got through it with the show and everything but it kind of hurts still. That’s how I’m feeling.”

Later in the interview Ferg added, “Rest in peace Yams. We will never forget you and shit. We gon’ represent A$AP ’til we die. You already know what it is. A$AP.”

During the sit-down the Trap Lord artist also spoke on collaborating with Ariana Grande and hanging out with Big Sean.

“It was cool,” he said of his contribution to Grande’s album. “They sent me like two songs to do. The first song was the shit that Childish Gambino was on, I put a verse on that. The second one was ‘Hands On Me’ and they kept ‘Hands On Me’ and they put Childish Gambino on the other one because I guess they felt he suit that one better. She’s cool. We did performances and stuff together. You know she Big Sean’s girl so Big Sean is like a brother to me so it’s like a big family when we get together and turn up.”
