TMZ and BET both report Charmayne “Maxee” Maxwell, most known for her work with the R&B group Brownstone, died in Denmark Saturday after what is believed to be an accidental fall during a soccer game. Maxwell was married to Danish musician Carsten Soulshock. No further details about her death are currently available.

Brownstone rose to prominence in the ‘90s as one of the first groups signed to Michael Jackson’s MJJ Music imprint. Their 1994 hit, “If You Love Me” reached the #8 spot on Billboard magazine’s “Hot 100” singles chart and earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best R&B Performance.

Brownstone members pursued solo careers after their 1997 album, Still Climbing. Maxwell enjoyed solo success after signing with Mercury. She released the singles “When I Look Into Your Eyes” and “This Is Where I Wanna Be” under the name Maxee.

Fellow Brownstone member Teisha Brown reacted to the news via Twitter and Instagram.
