Not longer after touching down at the Norman Manley Airport in Kingston, Jamaica recently, President Barack Obama headed straight for the Bob Marley Museum to check out everything pertaining to one of music’s greatest icons.

According to Mashable, the museum, which is Marley’s former home, displays his recording studio, bedroom, gold and platinum records, a life-sized hologram from his 1978 One Love Peace Concert and his Grammy Lifetime Achievement award, among other collectables.

“I still have all the albums,” Obama admitted while touring the museum, according to a White House pool report. We all know the President is a huge fan of Bob Marley. During an interview with MTV’s Sway Calloway back in October of 2012, Obama recalled listening to him back in college.

“I can remember when I was in college, listening, and not agreeing with his whole philosophy necessarily, but raising my awareness about how people outside of our country were thinking about the struggle for jobs and dignity and freedom.”

In light of Obama’s recent trip to the Bob Marley Museum, we’ve put together a list of some of the President’s most notable musical mentions, ranging from Young Jeezy to Bob Dylan.

Young Jeezy

At the White House Correspondents’ Dinner back in April 2012, the President gave a nod to ATL’s Young Jeezy.

“In my first term, I sang Al Green,” Obama said, referencing his tribute to Al Green. “In my second term, I’m going with Young Jeezy.”

Young Jeezy soon took to Twitter to thank the President for the shout-out.

Kanye West

Last month, Kanye West made a stop at Oxford University’s Museum of Natural History. While he was there, Kanye revealed a few details regarding his relationship with the POTUS.

“I understand that I’m a servant,” Kanye said. “And with my voice, with my ability to build relationships with amazing people, speak to amazing people. Call Elon Musk out of the blue, or call Obama out of the blue… he calls the home phone, by the way.”

But, during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on March 12, even the President himself admitted to not having Kanye’s home number.

“Look I love his music [and] he’s incredibly creative. I don’t think I’ve got his home number though.”

Jay Z

Back in 2012, a reporter from The Atlantic asked the President one question… and it was a good one. Here’s how the conversation went:

“I have a question I want to ask you, Mr. President,” the reporter says.

“Sure,” the President replies.

“Kanye [West] or Jay Z?”

“Jay-Z,” Obama replies, smiling.

Continuing, POTUS said: “Although, I like Kanye. He’s a Chicago guy. Smart. He’s very talented.”

“Even though you called him a jackass?” the reporter courageously asks.

“He is a jackass,” Obama replied, adding a wink in his likable manner. “But he’s talented.”

Stevie Wonder

Last year, Obama handed Stevie Wonder the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the country’s top civilian honor.

“For more than 50 years, Stevie has channeled his inner visions into messages of hope, healing and becoming one of the most influential musicians in American history,” Obama said, according to The Telegraph. “A musical prodigy. An electrifying voice.”

Bob Dylan also received the Presidential Medal of Freedom back in 2012.

“There is not a bigger giant in the history of American music,” President Obama said of Dylan at the ceremony, according to Rolling Stone. “The unique gravel-y power of his voice helped redefine not just what music sounded like, but the message it carried and how it made people feel.”

 Honorable Mention: Malia Obama

Back in early January, a picture of Barack and Michelle Obama’s oldest daughter Malia wearing a Pro Era t-shirt surfaced the Internet.

The Brooklyn collective uploaded the photo to their Instagram page, attaching the following caption:

“Malia Obama rocking that classic Pro Era tee! Make sure you get your official Pro Era gear from theproera.com!”

A rep for the group later confirmed that the photograph came from “a mutual friend” of the First Daughter and Pro Era.
