Any questions about how Kardashian family matriarch Bruce Jenner self-identifies were swiftly answered during his ABC special with Diane Sawyer. The gold medal-winner in the decathlon at 1976 Olympic Games explained his decision to publicly identify as a woman after being born as a male.

“I’m me…I’m a person,” Jenner told ABC’s Diane Sawyer. “This is who I am. I’m not stuck in anybody’s body, it’s just who I am as a human being. My brain is much more female than it is male.”

As for the most pertinent question of the encounter, Jenner’s answer was both frank and brief.

“Yes, for all intents and purposes, I am a woman,” Jenner added. “People look at me differently. They see you as this macho male. But my heart, my soul, and everything I do in life, it is part of me.”

Earlier Friday, Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner respectively showed their support for Bruce Jenner’s decision. Kylie posted an older picture with the caption “Daddy throwback #Tonight #DianeSawyer #ABC #love.” Meanwhile, Kim, who had previously been silent on the matter, told E! News the family was supportive of Bruce and were excited to watch the special tonight.

Bruce Jenner and Kris Kardashian split in 2014 after 23 years of marriage. They share two daughters, Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner.

Diane Sawyer’s “20/20” interview with Bruce Jenner airs Friday at 9:00 pm EST.
