Boom Moment In Hip-Hop: Kiss Questions Everything Wrong In The World With Hit Record “Why?” (2004)

On June 22, 2004, Jadakiss released his second studio album Kiss of Death under Ruff Ryders and Interscope. This was a follow up to his 2001 gold selling debut Kiss The Game Goodbye. The album reached #1 on both he Billboard 200 and the Rap Albums charts with almost 250,000 copies sold first week.

Some singles you may remembering listening on your Sony Walkman were “Time’s Up” featuring the hook legend Nate Dogg, “U Make Me Wanna” featuring Mariah Carey, and his political based crossover hit “Why” featuring Anthony Hamilton. With the success of “Why” and the combinations of Jadakiss’s gritty street raps, his major guest features and producers, Kiss of Death was certified platinum by the RIAA.
