Drake’s Not Worried About Your Favorite Rapper

Drake hasn’t been granting many interviews lately. Throughout his career he’s let his music do most of the talking anyway. But in a new short-form documentary released by The Fader and Sprite Drizzy opens up about his status in the game, throws a little shade at the New York hip hop scene, and even credits his father for his own decision to sing so much in his music.

One of the lasting messages here though is that Drake is feeling pretty secure with his positioning in the industry, and he doesn’t expect that to change for a while.

“I’m not worried about these other rappers, I’m not competing with those guys,” he says in the almost 4-minute clip. “I already know their hand, I know their move. I study everything. I’m worried about the kid that’s sitting in his house that wants to better than me and all those guys. That’s who I’m competing with. That’s how I’ve tried to keep it forward, just to let that kid know that I’m not done yet.”

As for his haters, Drake even spins the flack into good vibes. “I don’t really celebrate the wins, I don’t sulk over the negative,” he says. “I just keep it moving…Effort that’s put into doubt or hate, when it’s that extreme, it’s the same thing as love, man. They’re confused, it’s not me.”
