Ever posted something on Facebook to prove a point, but the headline is misleading and the linked post argues to exact opposite of your point? That’s kind of what happened to D.A.R.E. today.

The anti-drug organization re-published a post entitled, “Purchasing marijuana puts kids at risk.” The headline is right in line with D.A.R.E.’s brand. The rest of the article, a Columbus Dispatch letter to the editor, didn’t. It argues against the criminalization of marijuana, not marijuana itself.

“I support legalization precisely because I want to reduce youths’ drug use,” the article says. “Drug dealers don’t care about a customer’s age. The answer isn’t prohibition and incarceration; the answer is regulation and education.”

That’s not quite a D.A.R.E stance, which is absolute in its anti-drug ideology. The organization removed the post, but not before Washington Post‘s Christopher Ingraham saw the post to press the organization about the mistake.

D.A.R.E. definitely didn’t get that read-everything-twice thing down. A “Scott” has nothing to do with this piece of news.
