The brief Twitter spat between Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift that lasted barely 2 days but set the internet ablaze for weeks had many anticipating a continued showdown between the two superstar divas on the MTV VMA stage, but they opted to do just the opposite.

Nicki opened the show with a colorful ode to her island gyal roots in the form of a performance of “Trini Dem Girls” off of her Pink Print album before transitioning into the first verse of “The Night Is Still Young.” Nicki’s firey red, Carnival-inspired get up paired with her risque dance moves were already enough kick off the show in memorable fashion, so Taylor joining her on stage to sing the chorus all but broke the internet all over again.

Of course, their seemingly friendly reunion now has the masses questioning whether or not the whole “feud” was staged from the beginning as promo for the show….what do you think?

At any rate, the two ladies appeared to put the short-lived “beef” to rest by sending the message that the show must, and will, go on.
