The release of Adele’s third studio album 25 this week has caused a media and fan frenzy that only seems to be intensifying by the day, but it also landed the 27-year-old British songstress at the center of a slightly-surprising rumor.
The comparison of Adele’s success to that of other superstars in music has been happening since the beginning of her career, and somewhere in the middle of the most recent “who’s-better-than-who” talk, a rumor was born suggesting that Adele had turned down a collaboration request from Beyonce. Although Adele has been vocal about her admiration for Mrs. Carter on several occasions in the past, she apparently wanted to make sure that the speculation about any issues between them was cleared up quickly.
She had this to say in response to the rumor during a recent Beats 1 Radio interview with Zane Lowe:
“Obviously, Queen B until the day I die.
There’s a rumor going around that I turned Beyoncé down, which I would never be so disrespectful as to do. I’d never disrespect her like that.
I’m such a fan, oh my God.”
So, does this mean a Beyonce-Adele collab is actually in the future? For now, it looks like we’ll just have to wait and see.
