After being accused of sexual assault by over 50 different women, Bill Cosby is set to face the justice system.

Yesterday, the formerly-beloved television figure was charged with the felony of aggravated indecent assault. If convicted, Cosby could face up to ten years in prison.

The charge stems from an incident in 2004, in which he allegedly drugged and then forced himself onto Andrea Constand.

Although he has yet to enter a plea, Cosby’s attorneys have released the following statement questioning the prosecutor’s motive.

The statement read, “The charge by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office came as no surprise, filed 12 years after the alleged incident and coming on the heels of a hotly contested election for this county’s D.A. during which this case was made the focal point.”

They then vowed to put forth a strong defense, stating, “Make no mistake, we intend to mount a vigorous defense against this unjustified charge and we expect that Mr. Cosby will be exonerated by a court of law.”

One publication that doesn’t appear to be buying Cosby’s claims of innocence is the NY Daily News, as can be seen on their latest cover.

The outlet released their cover earlier, which shows a “he-said-she-said” theme, with tons of she-said’s following it to represent his accusers.

Cosby’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 14.
