Tragedy struck at T.I.‘s Irving Plaza concert Wednesday night and resulted in yet another Black mom losing her son to gun violence.

Rose McPhatter, mom to 33-year-old Ronald McPhatter (B$B Bangawho was shot dead during a backstage brawl – reportedly between Troy Ave and Maino‘s entourages – said her son died much how he lived…protecting his friend.

“He actually cared a lot about Troy Ave. My wish is that Troy Ave cared as much about my son as he cared about him. I say that because I watched how my son would always bend over backwards to help him,” Rose told the NYDailyNews at the Gowanus Houses in Brooklyn, NY earlier today.

Rose also let it be known that she hasn’t yet heard from Troy Ave: “If he (Troy Ave) cared about my son as much as he alleged he does, I would’ve received a call from him. He didn’t call me. He didn’t call any of my other sons.”

Troy Ave was one of four people injured during the shootout, but luckily, walked away with just a graze on his leg. At this time, the investigation is moving forward and Police Commissioner Bill Bratton says the NYPD expects to close the case quickly.

Hopefully, Troy reaches out to his friend’s family soon. For now, we are keeping the McPhatter family and all other victims in our prayers.
