It looks like LeBron James will be staying in Cleveland a bit longer than expected.

After previously signing with the Cavaliers through next summer, his contract has been revised and he’ll be playing for his hometown team for the next three years. Many suspected he’d leave after one year and eventually form the super team with fellow superstars Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, and Dwyane Wade. But it’s clear that for right now, his goal is to bring more rings to the ‘land.

James, 31, took to the athlete-powered platform Uninterrupted to announce the new three-year deal that will make him the highest-paid player in the NBA.

I can’t be more excited than this opportunity once again, man, to defend our crown, defend our title. We all know last year as a magical, inspiring, all the words you can come up with, it was an unbelievable season. I just can’t wait to get the group back together,” he says in the clip.

James’ longtime agent, Rich Paul, told ESPN he agreed to a three-year, $100 million dollar deal with the Cavaliers, making him the highest-paid player in a single season in NBA history.

With the Cavaliers just as hungry as last year, a souped-up Golden State Warriors squad, and a solid New York Knicks team, there should be plenty of exciting matchups in the 2016-17 NBA season.
