Hip Hop Wired is reporting that that Michael “Blue” Williams has been given the green light for his project “Guns For Greatness“. This is a buy back program in which turning in weapons can get people in to see some of this Summer’s most anticipated concerts like; Jay-Z & Justin Timberlake‘s “Legends of Summer,” Beyoncé’s “The Mrs. Carter Show,” and Alicia Keys‘ “Girl On Fire” tour

NYPD Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly has approved Williams’s plan and now there seems like nothing else left to it but to do it! The hopes are to get as many guns off of NYC streets as possible. And to reward people for taking such positive actions.

Says Williams;

“A lot of these kids are going to want to get into music,” It’s about galvanizing the Hip-Hop community to help and use our influence to make it happen.”

Blue is no stranger to the industry as he has managed a long string of successful acts including; Outkast, Cee Lo Green and Nas to name a few.

A press release that was sent out addressing the program stated;

 “Guns for Greatness” is the first private sector buyback program of its kind in New York City. Similar programs have failed to reach the age group of those directly impacted by gun violence.”

The very first buyback event will be held this coming  Saturday March 30, 2013 at Brooklyn’s Christian Cultural Center, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

So if you’re holding on to something that you shouldn’t be, and you stan for one of the previously mentioned artist, then head on over to Brooklyn and handle your business!
