He probably did it because you get more rights to information regarding the prisoner as a wife that you are not legally entitled to as a girlfriend or baby mama. And as for her, if something happens to him while he’s gone, she gets to keep her house and stuff. After EIGHT years, if it took a prison sentence to take a person to marry you, I would say to hell with all that!
