Mos Def has been a patron of hip-hop at his best. I am and continue to be a huge fan of his music. I agree that hip-hop in it's musical form is a hollow shell of itself. I hope Mos Def found some beats on this album. The hip-hop public is starving for the return to the Mighty Mos Def, but the beats and music haven't been of great quality since his "Black On Both Sides" album. Mos if you're listening, if you're out there your lyricism is legendary but in this day and age if the music doesn't catch the ear, nobody is going to listen, a BlackStar album would be great right about now also. "The Captives own the masters to what we're writing." It's o.k. to party and have fun and make fun music, but hip-hop today is toxic.

One thing i can say about Mos Def is he has pretty much remained the same over the years. But People like Jay-z they have kind da gone non lyrical. His Music doesnt mean anything anymore he cant rap about bein a dope dealer too much because hes not one anymore. Now his music to me lack structure.Mos Def 9 times out of 10 will remain the same because he raps about the struggle in the purest form.Very well noted actor and musical hip hop artist which is very slim nowadays.Mos Def he ight wit me.
